Hi, I'm Jasmin! And who are You?

Journal Entry: Fri Jan 4, 2013, 8:01 AM

Hi, I'm Jasmin,

and I'm not very good at introductions, but seeing as I've got plenty of new watchers, I decided to try anyway :D

So, who am I? Well, in this so-called real life, I am a process engineer working for a plant engineering and construction company based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. I design plants that remove certain unwanted gases (like CO2 and H2S) from either natural gas or synthesis gas streams. I live with my boyfriend in a small town just outside of Frankfurt at the foot of the Taunus.

The contrast between countryside and this skyscraper-filled city is great; and not just for taking photos.

Though taking photos is of course my most prominent hobby - that and creating photomanipulations, which you can find on my art account kuschelirmel

[these are so NOT stock ;P]

These are just three of my personal faves from 2012. Looking at last year, I think it's the first time that I uploaded more stock than manips, which I'm sure is mostly due to the fact that preparing stock images for upload just doesn't take as long as doing a manip ^^ Plus I have a LOT of stuff that would be great stock still lying around. In 2012, I haven't even begun to clear out that backlog!

While I do get loads of stock from around here, I also travel quite a lot. Partly because of work and partly with my boyfriend. For example, this year, we went to Paris, France, in April/May to celebrate our anniversary. And in September, we were at the Côte d'Azur (Southern France) for our vacation:

For work, I visited Krakow, Poland, a few times this year, in March I was there for 2 weeks and had the weekend to take photos! Krakow is a beautiful city. It's so old and the inhabitants are so open and the whole city is thrumming with life and music!

Hmm, what else?

  • The first money I ever earned I got for doing a juggling performance with a few other kids from school at the mayor's New Year's reception. I can still juggle 4 balls - I think ;)
  • I grew up in a very small village on the Swabian Alb in Southern Germany. I studied process engineering in Karlsruhe and thus I come complete with dialekt (even though it's now a mix between schwäbisch and badisch) :D
  • I always joke that my English is better than my (standard) German
  • I don't like doing sports; the maximum I do is go swimming, but I've been slacking for weeks.
  • I love, love, love chocolate!
  • And I love good food in general (needless to say I ate and ate when we were on vacation in France...)
  • I'm not a thin person, but I guess you could deduce that from above :paranoid:
  • I used to be photomanip CV with my main account kuschelirmel. Twice.
  • I wish I had more time to upload stuff and comment on your wonderful art and write tutorials!
  • I'd also love to get around to doing more css journals and brushes.
  • If you want to make me happy, use my stock and show me what you've created!

^^ that's me.

And who are you?

I'd love to get to know you - old and new watchers, visitors, whoever feels like saying hi!

Great to learn more from you!
I'm a student of art history and philosophy at the university of Bamberg. I live about 30 min. away from the town in a very small, very dozily village with a dog and some a bit unknown lodger like fat dormouses. I start art with doing portraits as child and teenager and came to photomanipulation at 1210. dA helps me a lot! I met so many great people here and getting more skilled by their advices. Now I try to go more to digital paint..Let's be hontest, I learn the basics of digital paint right now (after I find the courage and buyed a grafig tablett ). I'm a very unpatient person, get fast angry, when things don't be like I want them, so learning painting is a bit of a horror for me. But I want to be more flexible in art (not so dependent on stock). Actually I should not be here, but doing uni stuff, because I make my bachelor in the next year and have a looot things to do. So nice to meet you and have a wonderful evening :huggle:

Hiya! Great to meet you! I remember all too well dA clashing with my studies :giggle: I hope you have a bit more self discipline than I did ;) Are you going to continue studying after you get the bachelor's degree, do a master? If so, are you going to specialize in something?

Comment verstecken, Typ blockieren, fertig.

Hey Jasmin,

I'm Ken from the North East in the U.S.A.
I'm a web developer, and a volunteer for the Mozilla Foundation (the developers of Firefox).
I have a few websites but my main one is AccessFirefox.org which provides accessibility tools and resources for Firefox end users with disabilities, primarily visual impairments and/or for those without the best visual acuity.

I've always loved art of (nearly) all kinds, and just consider myself to be a hobbyist.

Nice to meet you and thanks sincerely for sharing your works and world with us all.

Hi Ken! Great to meet you! Your commitment to making this world a more accessible place is great! I took a look at your profile and saw some of your latest journals detailing more of what you do and I have to admit (shamefully) that I never even thought about any of this before. Sure, when coding a website (which I haven't done in ages), you take care to put in alternative text for pictures so it can be read out loud by a programme, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. Thank you for showing me more

Hullo! :) I'm Isabel, and I live in the Southern USA. I'm not old enough to have gotten very far yet; as a matter of fact, I'm still in secondary school. However, I still can (and do) plan my future, and I really look up to people like you who have done excellent things with your life. Even though my strong point is grammar (and a little of psychology, but not a significant amount), which is not easy to take into a career (:(), I am trying to take some time to learn things like Spanish, simple biology, and a little math so that I can learn something more useful than English grammar. And, hopefully, I will be able to turn out somewhat like you! :D

You are a very intelligent woman, and you seem very secure (maybe not 100%, because no one really is), which is good; you have reached a point of self-actualization, which is a stage few people reach. Good job there.

I don't have much to say about myself, because I have not made it far enough in life to talk about anything. I can get down to simpler things, though. =P Bits and bytes.

I have 35 pets! :eager:
:bulletwhite: 9 cats
:bulletwhite: 11 llamas
:bulletwhite: 12 chickens
:bulletwhite: 2 fish (one died two days ago :sniff:)
:bulletwhite: 1 dog
I am more of a cat person than a dog person. :meow:
I do not like sports, either, but I try to take a little bit of time out of each day to exercise. I also take karate, which helps me stay in shape; before you ask, my belt level is not really impressive, since I only got permission to start taking classes in October. ;P I'm a yellow belt right now.
I'm short! (4'10") :noes:
I'm not exactly the thinnest girl in the world. It doesn't really bother me that I'm not a supermodel, but I do get a little self-conscious around my beautiful friends. :X That's alright, though; it's normal for people my age. I also have high cholesterol, which is hereditary and not at all induced by my diet. Many people fail to believe that, though! Ah well. Ignorance is bliss. =P

I think that is quite enough now -- and may I say, you are excellent at introductions. Have you had to make many in the past, with your occupation? You seem very proficient in these little wordlets :) (oh and, I make up words often; I usually assume people know what I am talking about)!

Hi Isabel! Very nice to meet you! Thanks for taking the time to write such a long comment
And thank you for the compliments  I'm sure you will find your way, just don't let others tell you what is best for you too much (a little advice never hurts).

I usually don't have to introduce myself much at work, if I do it's mostly "I'm Jasmin Junger, I'm a process engineer for department x. I've been with the company for y years. Currently I'm doing project z." :D

I meant them! :aww: I think I will, too, and I will keep that in consideration. I love getting as much advice as I can get, but I don't want it to overpower me :icondizzyplz:

Ahaha, well in that case, you must have excellent social skills. :aww: I never really know what to talk about in an introduction, but when I do, I begin to ramble. :nuu:

Hallo! I'm from the Southern US, but have actually been living in Germany for almost three full years now! I'm 22 (but my birthday is near!) and have a husband and 2 daughters. I like to classify myself as a photomaniper mostly, but I am really bad at being consistent with my art and have yet to get to a place where I'm happy with my skill, lol. I shame myself because the big gaps I take makes me loose ability BUT I still love saving stocks and looking at inspiration ALL the time! ^.^

;) Was besseres fällt mir nich ein.
